It's a Perfect World!

Can you imagine a world where everyone has the other person's best interest at heart? No pushing or shoving to be first in line. No maligning someone's character so you can get ahead at the job. No getting stuck with an item the salesperson said was best for you but didn't really mean it. Though these are trivial examples, the Word of God tells us in Philippians 2:3-11, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." (vs 3-4)

Our attitude should be that of Christ Jesus as exemplified in verses 5 -11. Just think of this servant attitude. He, being God willingly lowering Himself to be a servant to others. Not only to serve the physical needs of others but to willingly die on a cross to redeem us from our sinful fate.

To be willing to die in someone else's place is a lofty goal to aspire to but are we even willing to put the simple needs of others ahead of selfishly gratifying ourselves? Are we a servant to the "least of these"? I would challenge you today to put at least one person's needs ahead of your own. I know that it will be a blessing for both of you.

Dear Lord, I ask that you remove the blinders from my eyes and let me see others the way that you see them. Teach me how to serve instead of being served. Give me a humble heart. Amen
